Wokingham in Need – a local charity, now celebrating 10 years of helping the Homeless and Vulnerable.
Wokingham in Need is dedicated to providing support for the homeless and most vulnerable in our community.
We are proud and honoured to offer such support and would like to thank you, the people of Wokingham, for your continued support. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to offer the much needed facilities that are helping improve and change the lives of the homeless in our wonderful community.

We’ve received The King’s Award for Voluntary Service!
This is the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK, being the MBE for volunteer groups. Wokingham In Need is one of 231 local charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups to receive the prestigious award this year.
The King’s Award for Voluntary Service aims to recognise outstanding work by local volunteer groups to support their communities and make life better for those around them. It was created in 2002 to celebrate Her Late Majesty The Queen’s Golden Jubilee and was continued following the accession of His Majesty The King. 2025 marks the third year of The King’s Award for Voluntary Service. Recipients are announced annually on 14th November, The King’s Birthday.
Susan Jackson – founder of Wokingham In Need – said: “In this our 10th year, we are proud and honoured to receive such a prestigious award and I would like to pay tribute to the hard work and commitment of all our unpaid volunteers, supporters and sponsors. We will continue to support our community with our work to help the Homeless, those in need and the many local projects we are involved with.”
Wokingham In Need will receive the award and certificate from The Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire Andrew Try Esq in the coming months.
